Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority has recommended the up to 15 GW Asian Renewable Energy Hub for approval by the Minister for Environment. The megaproject will feature wind and solar power, submarine cabling for overseas power export, and green hydrogen production across 660,000 hectares on the north-west Australian coastline. The project was initially envisioned at 6 GW in 2014. Plans rose to 9 GW, then 11 GW in 2018.
