It’s not been a good week for the Canadian Tar sands community, with Teck Resources calling a halt to its exploitation of the Frontier Project, an extension to the existing Athabasca Tar sands all within Alberta. There are plenty of other Tar sands projects which have already been committed to, but the economics of the Tar sands business has more or less been scuppered by the Canadian Government, for that read Justin Trudeau, the prime minister.
