Telefonica Deutschland has been spreading its wings in Germany this year with a spate of partnerships to shore up its mobile backhaul capacity and prepare for 5G roll out there. The Telco identified video streaming as a key use case, especially to cars, which it describes as the fifth screen after cinema, TV, PCs and smartphones in that order. It sees 5G with its 10 times lower latency, higher capacity and greater tolerance for fast movement of the receiver, as critical for streaming Ultra HD content to vehicles, identified as a major use case for the connected car, set to become a large point of content consumption for passengers.
