América Móvil subsidiary Telmex launched its Claro Video SVoD offering in November 2012 outside Mexico, and later launched on home turf. The group is active across Latin America in Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic, plus Austria and the US. Operations and figures: Telmex does not have pay TV in Mexico, only OTT. It ended Q3 2018 with nearly 9.4 million broadband subscribers, up 1.5%, and 12.4 million on fixed line, down 1.6%. Its mobile base grew 1.9% in the quarter to 74.7 million subscribers. América Móvil’s Mexican revenue increased by 7.1% in the period to US$3.76 billion, with EBITDA up 14.3% to $1.26 billion.
