The Energy Systems Integration Group recently held a webinar on the topic of grid-forming inverters, which among other things stated that adding grid-forming capability to battery energy storage systems (BESS) is more or less free and software-based – whereas solar and wind grid-forming controls would require curtailment, extra hardware and newly developed systems.
