BP has announced a new partnership with Cemex – a Mexican building materials company – in a bid to decarbonize the cement industry, which accounts for 8% of global emissions. According to a statement released on Thursday, the pair will look to develop solutions to decarbonization both production and transport, include low carbon power, low carbon transport, energy efficiency, natural carbon offsets, and carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies. Additionally, they intend to work together to develop urbanization solutions envisioned to decarbonize cities.
