Israel has embarked on a reform simplifying the approvals processes for rooftop solar projects, to support its goal of 1.6 GW across 100,000 additional installations by 2030, expected to include 15% of residential buildings. Licensed electricians will now be able to provide a certificate of compliance, instead of only electrical engineers. Building construction permits will also no longer be needed for energy storage systems smaller than 600 kWh.
