Iberdrola subsidiary Avangrid has agreed to acquire US utility PNM Resources, strengthening its growing position in the country’s energy sector. The combined companies will encompass 10 regulated energy suppliers in six states, servicing 4 million customers. It will also become the US’ third-largest renewables operator, with around 7.4 GW of capacity in operation. When the acquisition closes in 2021, PNM shareholders will receive $50.30 per share, compared to the closing price of $45.75 on the 20th of October.
