The US government has imposed another wave of barriers to its offshore wind sector, as the technology has been bundled in with oil and gas in new measures to slow down offshore operations. Hurdles may be surmountable, but continued friction between industry, states and the federal government will see more delays in a market which could otherwise be one of the fastest-growing globally. The first ruling, imposed by President Trump several weeks ago, is to restrict any energy development in waters in the Gulf of Mexico.
