Sharif Al Olama, under-secretary to the UAE’s Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, has stated that the UAE will shift towards super-cheap solar and is investing in blue and green hydrogen projects. Speaking at the Siemens Energy Week virtual conference on Monday, Al Olama said his country was “revising and refreshing our energy strategy and roadmap,” and that “These kinds of prices are very competitive.” He was referring to the under-development 2 GW Al Dhafra solar plant, and its electricity price of $13.5 per MWh, the world’s lowest for solar so far.
