For those unfamiliar with the US energy markets, and in particular its Regional Transmission Organizations and Independent System Operators, the SEEM announcement this week of creating a new energy market platform for the South East, is long overdue, but equally poorly timed. It looks rushed in an attempt o have the blessing of the Trump controlled FERC, rather than a Biden controlled one. Effectively it allows for both a connected transmission network across the states of both North and South Carolina and parts of Georgia and it has the potential to take in other nearby States in the area marked with a star on the diagram below.
