Verizon has placed greater emphasis than its two big rivals AT&T and T-Mobile USA on the importance of private 5G and edge compute, as well as fixed wireless access (FWA), in its overall wireless strategy. These three are designed to extend the monetization of its 5G networks well beyond just mobile connectivity. This reflects the reality that Verizon’s mobility services are under scrutiny at the moment, after performing significantly less well than its rivals for the first two quarters of 2022.
