Vodafone UK has been seeking to increase revenues from MVNOs during a two-year push that has generated growth of 3.5m indirect subscribers during that period. Mike Cartwright, head of Vodafone UK’s wholesale business, has grown his team from six to 20 people and has signed up contracts with supermarket chain Asda, and cable operator Virgin Media, among others (though presumably the merger of Virgin with O2 UK will put an end to that deal over time). The presumed loss of Virgin is putting new pressure on Cartwright’s team to win new deals, and it has developed a cloud-based platform to make it easier to on-board and manage MVNOs.
