Faultline has long stood by the view that Vodafone and UPC’s Ziggo should never have been allowed to merge in the Netherlands in the first place. The controversial deal, completed back in 2016, effectively turned multiple technology markets into two quad play duopolies (with VodafoneZiggo and KPN slugging it out in cable TV). Now, Liberty Global reportedly wants to take back full control of the Dutch powerhouse, per reports that the operator has approached Vodafone about acquiring its 50% stake in the Dutch joint venture.
