WiFi HaLow, the low power and low frequency variant of WiFi for IoT use cases, has received a belated boost as its founder and developer, Morse Micro, has just received AUD$140m (US$94.4m) in Series B funding. The round was led by MegaChips, a Japanese semiconductor services firm, and also included existing investors such as Blackbird Ventures, Main Sequence Ventures, Clean Energy Finance, Skip Capital, Unisee, and SpringCapital. The funding round is significant for attracting another semiconductor company, MegaChips, to the field, enabling Morse Micro to claim that the standard is gaining wider industry support.
