As we reach the end of 2020, it’s worth pausing to see just how far renewables have come, and where on the scale of decarbonization much of the world is. We can count a number of significant carbon pledges, from countries like China, Japan, all of Europe, the UK and South Korea, and this week they were joined by a surprise candidate, Brazil, and early in January we have the promise of US President-Elect Joe Biden, that he will re-join the Paris agreement, with a pledge to reach zero emissions almost certain to be by 2050 or sooner.
