This privacy notice tells you what to expect when Rethink Technology Research Ltd (Rethink Research) collects personal information about you.
Rethink Research is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this notice and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, 2018.
What information we collect and how
We collect personal information when you register with us for a free trial to one of our subscription services, and/or when you place an order for our products or services. We will use this information to provide the trial services requested and/or fulfil the order, and, if you agree, to send you marketing information. If you choose to opt-in for direct marketing, we may retain your contact details for marketing purposes even after expiry of your paid subscription or trial service, until you tell us otherwise.
We may ask you for the following information:
- your name, organisation and job title
- your contact information, including email address and telephone number
- demographic information such as your postcode, preferences and interests
- other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers
Third-party providers
We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletters and direct marketing information. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our newsletters and marketing information. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our mailers, or send us an email with your request.
We use a third party service, WordPress.com, to publish our website content and articles, and to host our e-commerce site. These sites are hosted at WordPress.com, which is run by Automattic Inc. We use a standard WordPress service to collect anonymous information about users’ activity on the site, for example the number of users viewing pages on the site, to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the site and help us improve it. WordPress requires visitors that want to post a comment to enter a name and email address. Personal information is collected when you use one of the sign-up forms or make a purchase at our e-commerce store. When someone visits www.rethinkresearch.biz, we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. Please view the Google Analytics privacy notice for more information.
What we do with the information gathered
We require this information to:
- process your order, and keep records relating to your order
- provide you with the products/services you have requested
- better understand your needs/tailor a personalised service
- improve/update our website and internal systems
- improve/update the products and services we offer you
We would like to tell you about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting. We may also contact you for market research purposes. We might do this by email or telephone. We will only contact you in this way if you have given us your consent, and you can opt-out whenever you like – simply contact us with your request.
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless you have told us we can, or we are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you carefully selected promotional material about third parties which we think you may find interesting, if you tell us that you wish this to happen. Again, you can opt-out at any time by sending us an email.

Controlling the use of your personal information

Access to your information and corrections

- If you believe any of that information is incorrect or incomplete, let us know and we will amend this according to your instructions
- If you decide you no longer have use for our services and wish for us to delete all personal information we hold for you
There is no fee for processing an access request or updating information. Your request will be dealt with in a timely manner, although GDPR guidelines state we have up to one month to comply.
Changes to our privacy policy
We keep our privacy policy under regular review and may make changes from time to time, if directed to do so by the General Data Protection Regulation, or according to changes in our business practices. If we do, we’ll update this page and send you an email to tell you about the changes. This privacy policy was last updated on 17 April 2018.
Complaints Procedure
If you are unhappy with the way in which we collect or use your information, or feel that we are being unfair, misleading or inappropriate, please contact us in the first instance and we will try to resolve this. If we are unable to reach a resolution, and you want to make an official complaint about the way we have processed your personal information, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office as the statutory body which oversees data protection law – www.ico.org.uk/concerns.
