Telecoms is simple. If you build the best network, people use it. Verizon certainly had the best wireless network when it took the gamble of being one of the first operators in the world to launch commercial 4G. But there are several problems with the telecoms model in the modern age, and all of these are weighing on Verizon’s quarterly results and share price, and driving CEO Lowell McAdam towards a risky and somewhat desperate acquisitions strategy.
