At the Wireless Power Europe summit in London this week, speakers were heavily focused on the influence that Samsung and Apple have on any technology which needs to be incorporated into handsets. While interest in wireless charging is increasing among consumers and the wireless ecosystem, most agree that mass uptake will rely on the function being integrated into the smartphone, rather than requiring a separate accessory like a case. So far, the big two handset makers have not bitten, though smaller players like Nokia have incorporated wireless power into some models.
