The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) continues to pack in new capabilities to bolster its standard’s bid to dominate short range networks for the smart home and the wider Internet of Things (IoT). At Bluetooth World this week, the platform gained a new specification, the Transport Discovery Service (TDS). This allows Bluetooth to discover and initiate connections with any other available wireless link, and in the year ahead, the rate and range of those links will be boosted by further enhancements to the standard.
