India’s Bharti Airtel is reportedly considering selling a 5% stake in its tower subsidiary Bharti Infratel to help pay down debt. This could be worth about $558m. Bharti took Infratel public in 2012 and has been reducing its stake, which now stands at 71.7%. The subsidiary reported 12% year-on-year growth in net income in Q415. Bharti has already sold towers in another of its markets, Tanzania, offloading 1,350 sites to American Tower, with the option to add another 100 sites, which are currently in development, to the deal.
