Egypt will strengthen its electricity grid with $183 million in loan funding from The European Bank for Reconstruction (EBRD). The money is for the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to modernize its grid so it can handle 1.3 GW more of renewable energy. Renewable projects in Egypt have so far focused on solar, with EDF as one of the major players in the region.
