Xcel Energy will sell a 720 MW natural gas plant to fund its corporate donations and support through Covid-19. This also comes as part of the utility’s plans to become fully-regulated and reach 100% carbon-free energy by 2050. The Mankato Energy Center will be sold for $680 million to Southwest Generation in a deal that will be completed in the third quarter of 2020.
