Funding has been approved for Germany’s first large-scale green hydrogen plant, with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy giving the greenlight to Orsted and EDF for the first stage of its Westkuste 100 project. With the injection of a €30 million grant, as part of the German government’s new hydrogen roadmap and targeted to reach 5 GW of electrolyzers by 2030, development work will start for the 30 MW pilot stage of the project. After five years of demonstration, an expansion to 700 MW is planned.
