Ericsson has signaled its intent to attack the enterprise indoor sector and help operators capture data from WiFi through its $1.1bn acquisition of US wireless edge WAN vendor Cradlepoint. It is also an attempt to close the gap on Nokia, which has compensated for lackluster performance in the macro sector by taking the lead in the emerging private enterprise field. Ericsson has acted to nip that lead in the bud by acquiring a company that has come to the head of the US market for wireless WAN with a 25% share, equating to $140m revenues for 2019.
