The US House of Representatives last week passed four cross-party bills related to communications and technology, including Open RAN, and they will now move to the Senate for consideration. The ‘Open RAN Outreach Act’ (HR 4032) would require the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information to conduct outreach and provide technical assistance to small operators, to raise awareness about Open RAN technology. The Assistant Secretary would also be required to raise awareness about, and participation in, the Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Grant Program.
