The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has set about positioning WiFi 7 for real-time applications requiring ultra-low latency in a large study sampling cross-industry opinion from service providers, technology vendors and general enterprises. The main findings, issued as part of the WBA’s Annual Industry Report 2023, reveal that a third of companies surveyed already have plans to deploy WiFi 7 by the end of 2023. This would be good going considering that the specification is still under development and WiFi 7, based on the IEEE 802.11be standard, is not expected to be ready for full commercial release until well into 2023.
