China’s Gotion has signed a memorandum of Understanding with Slovakia’s InoBat to build out a 40 GWh battery gigafactory in Eastern Europe. It appears that the failure of Britishvolt which led to newspapers asking if the battery investment wave has died out in Europe, is well wide of the mark. Gotion is one of the more advanced Chinese battery makers, with claims that it is on the verge of launching a solid state design that could give cars 1,000 miles of range.
