The European Commission has proposed new rules for large trucks and buses which are designed to bring down CO2 and other emissions in line with passenger car plans. No new Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) passenger cars are allowed to be sold in the EU after 2035 – and this is more or less what is now planned for large heavy duty transport. Technically the rules are slightly different, and if anything will bring forward low and zero emission heavy duty vehicles to earlier deadlines. For instance ICE buses will be banned after 2030.
