Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has revealed in Tokyo that the country will update its national hydrogen strategy at the end of May by increasing its production goal from 2 MMTA (million metric tons per annum) to 12 MMTA in 2040. The goal is intended to be achieved with the help of an intermediary target set for domestic electrolyzer manufacturers of gaining a 10% share of the global electrolyzer market by 2030. In addition to this, the Asian country also plans to include a new type of subsidy scheme, much like how the Contracts-for-Difference (CfD) scheme works.
