Following a change in leadership effective April 1st, Toyota has officially committed to developing ten new battery powered models by 2026, and will be targeting 1.5 million EV sales in the same year. It will also be establishing a dedicated unit of the company to focus on next-generation battery EVs (BEVs). This is a reduction in the number of new vehicles the company is set to introduce in the coming years from a previous announcement from Toyota in December 2021, showing a consolidation of options with an increased focus on volume.
