Ganfeng Lithium, the world’s largest lithium producer by market cap and current 3rd largest by production volume (pending Allkem and Livent’s merger), has announced that its first generation solid-state battery is entering mass-production at a 4 GWh pilot production line. The company announced it was working on solid-state battery technology in late 2021, the company’s first-generation solid-state battery has an energy density of 260Wh/kg. It is a hybrid solid-state battery where in place of a liquid electrolyte it has an oxide electrolyte and a solid diaphragm.
