Scania, one of the oldest, most successful truck and bus makers in Europe, is already finding it tough to stand up to Chinese rivals in its native EV bus market. Its roots go back beyond the 1911 merger which formed it, and it has production facilities in Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Thailand, China, India, Argentina, Brazil, Poland, Russia and Finland. A release this week from the firm, now owned by Volkswagen, said simply that it was “reshaping” its bus and coach business, and gave very few details.
