The International Seabed Authority has been conducting meetings amongst its members in Jamaica since missing its self-imposed deadline on July 9th, with an increasing number of them calling for a moratorium on the practice to be introduced as the deadline loomed. Members have reached an agreement giving the body more time to finish regulations that would enable deep sea mining at a commercial scale.
