The European Parliament has approved its negotiating position for its updated Euro 7 emissions standards rules that will be replacing the current Euro 6 standards that have been in place since 2015 and updated marginally every year or so since. After pressure from the countries including but not limited to Italy and the Czech Republic, as well as from incumbent automotive OEMs, the European Parliament has committed to taking a weaker negotiating position towards ratcheting up emissions standards, meaning Euro 7 will not be as ambitious as was originally planned.
