Sweden’s Northvolt and Altris AB have announced that the latter’s record energy density Prussian white cathode material is to be used by Northvolt in producing battery cells, initially destined for the stationary energy storage market. Altris’ cells have been validated at a volumetric energy density of 160 Wh/kg, putting it on par with some weaker lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery cells. While Northvolt didn’t give a firm date for commercial availability, it plans to be the first in commercializing Prussian white cathode materials.
