Voith Composites has revealed that its Type IV hydrogen storage vessel, Carbon4Tank, for on-road use in Europe, has received all the regulatory approvals that it requires before commercialization. The tank boasts a capacity of 350 liters and operates at a pressure of 700 bars. Compliance with the UNECE R 134 regulation, which governs the type approval of hydrogen tank systems in Europe, ensures its readiness for use in heavy-duty trucks and other commercial vehicles. 350 liters at 700 bars means somewhere around 40 to 50 kilograms of hydrogen which, according to Voith, can power a truck for up to 1,000 km.
