Airbus is leading the way when it comes to big aerospace players going low carbon with its ZEROe program. The head of the department, Mathias Andriamisaina, released a statement on the progress of the program with Airbus having to choose between hydrogen combustion or fully electric fuel cell-powered aircraft. It seems as though Airbus wants to double down on one of the two technologies instead of pursuing both. There are similarities between certain systems involved in both routes, like the hydrogen storage subsystem for instance, and there are plenty of startups like ZeroAvia in the space advancing fuel cell power trains.
