Following a brief respite the price of lithium carbonate has begun falling again, remaining well above the marginal cost of production for most producers, partly due to slight increases in the price of spodumene concentrate (up 1.2% this week), but also because demand remains robust but not overwhelming. Despite the price of lithium having fallen nearly 85% since March last year, supply additions continue to be announced due to the general sentiment remaining that future supply is insufficient to meet market demand.
