The UK government has launched the revamped Jet Zero Taskforce to accelerate sustainable aviation efforts and address aviation emissions. Chaired by Secretary of State for Transport Louise Haigh, the Taskforce includes senior industry figures, government officials, and sustainability experts. Amid the UK also having passed SAF mandates into law, the initial press release from the taskforce fails to mention hydrogen, batteries or electric aviation in general. Building on the former Jet Zero Council, the Taskforce aims to deliver SAF and support zero-emission flights.
