The FR3 band in the 7-24 GHz range is creeping up on the radar screen for MNOs as a potential new sweet spot for mobile services as trials get underway. FR3 was only proposed as a band for addition to existing standards by the World Radio Conference (WRC) in September 2024, with plans to execute this at the earliest opportunity at its next global conference – WRC-27 towards the end of 2027.
