M&A & Investments The Kenyan government has laid out its conditions for Vodacom’s acquisition of 20% of Safaricom shares (the former already owns 35% of the latter). The government mandated that Safaricom’s chairman and CEO must always be Kenyan citizens, and that Vodacom cannot change Safaricom’s corporate brand in any way without its consent, among other stipulations. Mexican conglomerate Grupo Televisa is reportedly in talks to acquire AT&T Mexico and merge the MNO with its MVNO called Izzi, according to local press reports.
