US industry body 5G Americas has released a white paper to chivy US regulators into making regulatory and policy changes to speed the adoption of 5G Advanced (5G-A). The report also acknowledges with equal importance the value of private and public 5G-A networks. In this sense, it is not just promoting the priorities of mobile operators, but publicizing the value of the technology for its own sake. 5G-A is defined across 3GPP Releases 18 through 20, and will finally bridge to 6G standards. It includes innovations such as AI-native networking, improved energy efficiency, and extended IoT and XR support.
