At long last, the seven-year patent dispute between Apple and Samsung is completely over, with the last few items having been settled out of court. This leaves Apple to focus on lawsuits which have now become more urgent to its business, notably its battles with Qualcomm. The news came from the US District Court of Northern California, where a local jury initially agreed with Apple that Samsung should pay over $1bn in damages. This sum was reduced, in stages and via various appeals and retrials, to $539m in May, after a ruling by the US Supreme Court.
