US regulator the FCC has not been shy of stirring up controversy lately, but many of its pronouncements on net neutrality and the national broadband plan have focused mainly on wireline. But now it has turned its attention to the wireless side, and ruffled the feathers of leaders AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless, by saying this sector was not “effectively competitive’ in the US. The two giants expressed concern that the FCC’s comments were laying the groundwork for new regulations, such as applying full neutrality rules to wireless operators.
