UK prime minister David Cameron announced at this week’s CeBIT show in Germany that an extra £45m will be spent by his government on boosting development in the internet of things (IoT). The extra cash will more than double the current available funds for which UK can apply, bringing the total figure to £73m. Cameron also used the technology fair to announce new partnerships with the host country, saying that the combination of British ‘ingenuity in software, services and design’ paired with ‘German excellence in engineering’ could lead the ‘new revolution in the IoT’.
