UK prime minister Rishi Sunak has announced that his party is considering backtracking on the country’s zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, delaying the sales ban on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles another 5 years to 2035 despite investment in the country’s infrastructure having already been committed, the weakening of commitments would also see a revision to the banning of new gas boilers in the country and slower tightening of energy efficiency standards.
