Swedish shipping company Wallenius Sol has introduced a new liquefied biogas (LBG) offering to help tackle emissions from maritime shipping. What do we make of it? It’s another expensive distraction for ship operators, which will encourage short-term options in favour of long-term, sustainable strategies like green methanol and green ammonia. For Wallenius this is a clear market opportunity, but in the context of the sector it’s not looking that great in spite of reducing some emissions.
