The supply chain disruptions and consequent shortages that have been created by the pandemic are starting to have a very visible effect on most industries and on daily lives. The logistics, food, pharmaceuticals, energy and other key sectors are impacted, and so, of course, is hi-tech, with worsening semiconductor shortages hurting automotive and telecoms businesses, among others (see item below on Qualcomm). While the disruptions will no doubt be addressed over time, and normal service resumed, there will be permanent changes in approach, as in so many aspects of life and work, now under review as a result of Covid-enforced adjustments.
