The signs are clear that China is set to dominate the green methanol market with two separate recent announcements supporting the argument. Chinese automaker Geely started work on a facility that could output 500,000 tons of green methanol per year, and Danish shipping giant, Maersk, has signed a long-term off-take deal with LONGi. Methanol will be one of the main protagonists that will help decarbonize maritime shipping while there are even efforts trialing methanol automobiles – Geely being one of the advocates.
